Career opportunities with the Charleston County Aviation Authority
The Charleston County Aviation Authority offers both full-time employment and internship programs for college students.
The Aviation Authority, owner and operator of Charleston International Airport, employs approximately 180 full-time employees in a variety of positions in administration, police, airport operations, security, ground transportation and properties. A comprehensive benefits package is offered and includes medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, South Carolina State Retirement, 401(K), 457, tuition reimbursement, and optional life and disability insurance.
In addition to Charleston International, the Aviation Authority, a special purpose district of the state of South Carolina, owns and operates Charleston Executive Airport (JZI) on Johns Island and Mount Pleasant Regional Airport (LRO). It is governed by an 11-member board and is responsible for maintaining, operating, and developing all public airports in the Charleston County Airport District.
Each year the Aviation Authority offers paid internships to undergraduate rising juniors and seniors as well students pursuing graduate studies. The Airport Management Internship program is designed to give college students opportunities to learn the complex and dynamic profession of airport management and is part of our committment to cultivate diversity and inclusion in the workplace and develop and recruit top talent.
