Services for Passengers with Disabilities

The Charleston International Airport (CIA) operates in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act.  At CIA we are dedicated to serving our passengers needs by helping make your travel experience in and out of Charleston an enjoyable one.  We all know that traveling can sometimes be a bit inconvenient which is why we are continuously making strides towards improving our accommodations, throughout the facility, to assist persons with disabilities and or medical concerns.

Animal Relief Areas
Charleston International Airport has two designated Animal (Pet) Relief Area for service animals that accompany passengers.  These are located at the exterior or each end of the terminal building.

Elevators
A total of three public use accessible elevators are located in the terminal building, including one on each concourse for accessible aircraft boarding.

Elevators are also made available in the parking garage.

Ground Transportation
Curbside Attendants are available to assist passengers with disabilities in selecting a wheelchair accessible taxicab or shuttle bus.

Our Parking Garage is accessible for persons with special needs and has designated parking spaces available for the disabled in those vehicles displaying a government-issued plate.  The Charleston International Airport provides free handicap parking to qualified parking patrons. To qualify for free parking, a patron will need to present a valid handicap placard and driver's license, which must be issued by the same state, to the cashier at the time of exit. The cashier will fill out a short form for the handicap parking patron to sign. Once the form has been filled out and signed, the handicap parking patron may exit the garage without making payment.
