The Communications Center for the Aviation Authority is a function of the Charleston
County Aviation Authority Police Department. The Center provides 24/7 coverage for both
emergency and non-emergency situations associated with the International Airport,
Charleston Executive Airport, and the Mt. Pleasant Regional Airport. Trained
Communications Specialist provides dispatching services for law enforcement, airport
operations, and maintenance activities. Each specialist is certified through the State Law
Enforcement Division (SLED) and is routinely called upon to coordinate joint emergency
operations with other local police, fire, EMS, and the Charleston Air Force Base. The
